Trails nowadays are nothing like they used to be, very little pedaling and/or braking and the dirt is usually rock hard, it doesn’t make sense to mimic MX tires (that have to accelerate, brake and turn in soft dirt) with big knobs anymore and BF rides a mix of everything, so his tire needs to work well on everything. That lead to giving the FT1 a relatively smooth center section, to make the tire fast. Turning is when an increase in grip (instead of outright speed) is needed, lean the bike over in a turn and the micro-knobs come into play. The micro-knobs provide a perfect balance of surface area, stability and space in between for when the dirt might be a little soft still. The micro-knobs actually stick up above the main surface a super small amount, this allows them to sink into that slightly soft dirt and give an increase in surface area contact, but the amount they are raised doesn’t negatively affect stability or grip on hard surfaces. At the edges of the tread pattern are smooth tread blocks that help protect the sidewall on ramps and street.

Dan Coller’s signature Contender bars are perfect for taller riders, coming in at a comfortable 9.75” rise. The Contender bars are the first set of bars from Kink to offer pre-defined cutting grooves at 0.25” intervals. Coming with a stock 29.5” width, they can easily be cut down to 29”, 28.5”, 28” or 27.5” without breaking out the tape measure. Made from 13-butted chromoly tubing, and our TruTherm post weld heat treatment process, ensures these bars can stand up to all kinds of riding. This rim has a big and chunky bead to help reduce the chances of pinch puncturing or flat spotting the rim, but at same time the tiny hollow cavity inside it helps keep the weight right down. The rim also features a cross-lacing design to increase lateral wheel strength, and a offset value hole to help with strength in a common weak spot on aero style rims, this also makes it easier to fit a pump to the valve. This rim has a weight of just 408g (14.4oz) it outperforms most rims weighing 20-30% more, and the weight saving from the rotational mass of the wheel feels fantastic.
