Mavic engineered the XA Pro Carbon to be significantly lighter and laterally stiffer than any aluminum wheel, but also retained the impact resistance and vertical compliance that gives Mavic Wheel-Tire Systems the ride quality they’re known for. The XA Pro Carbon is the lightest wheel system in its category (1490g for 27.5” and 1535g for 29”). So you know it helps you climb and accelerate faster, but where it really shines is in the way it handles rough and challenging terrain. Mavic engineered a wide 26mm hookless rim profile that’s fully UST Tubeless compliant for improved traction, puncture resistance and ease of use. These asymmetric rims are fine-tuned to optimize spoke tension and they use 24 double-butted steel spokes to find the sweet spot between lateral stiffness and vertical compliance. Hubs are 6-Bolt only and compatible with all current axle standards including Standard and Boost.
The Quest Pro 27.5 inch folding tyre from Mavic designed as an rear specific tyre. The Quest Pro foliding bead is for Enduro style riding made from a dual compound rubber giving good traction to the tyre but keeping rollling resistance low. The tyre has an aggressive center knob pattern giving better braking and rolling efficiency, the high side knobs give better grip when cornering hard. This also helps the tyre to clear mud from the tread. The Quest Pro folding bead also feature Mavics guard 2 to protect against punctures. The Tyre is tubeless ready. Tyre weight is 780 g for 2.4 inch.
Going tubeless allows you to run lower tire pressures without the added weight of a tube. Lower tire pressure has many benefits, including greater traction, lower rolling resistance over rough surfaces, and decreased risk of a puncture-related flat. Tubeless-ready rims and tires are parts of a complete system that eliminates the need for tubes by creating an airtight chamber between the rim and tire. Liquid sealant is added to the chamber to fill small punctures and maintain air pressure while you ride. UST (Universal Standard for Tubeless) is a specific type of tubeless system that dictates the shape of the rim and tire bead. UST rims should be paired with UST-specific tires for best results.
